The 4th day of my Russian diet. In the morning as usual I had breakfast, it was another popular Russian food – buckwheat, I had it with an egg and sausage and sour cream. Buckwheat is one of my favourite whole grain dishes, it’s very tasty with sour cream or milk and very useful. Buckwheat is rich in protein, antioxidants, micro elements, some vitamins and soluble fiber, it helps to lose weight and lower blood cholesterol, it’s gluten free and has many other good points.
For lunch I had a Vegetable stew.
For snack I had homemade pasties. Pasties are very popular in Russia and could be filled with many different ingredients (usually – meat, potatoes, cabbage, eggs and green onions, jam ( pavidlo), apples, cherries).
For dinner I had fish. It’s very common in Russia to have fish on Thursdays, this tradition came from Christianity.
Later I had some fruits. And as usual, during the day I had tea and coffee, and some milk in the evening.
See you tomorrow
